Thank you for accepting my invitation to join Wealthy Affiliate. I believe the training is quite suitable for newbies on a budget.

However, I also know there are areas in it that are not clear or needs some updating. There are some things that have even been left off all together.

As such I intend to address those to ensure that you have updated information to help you along.

Before I begin, If you would like to continue to access my free training please enter your name and email below and never miss another update.

Some Background

Now when I started as an affiliate marketer, I planned to dedicate myself to the Wealthy Affiliate system and by the end of the the first year I expected that I would be making a steady income.

What I found in this program however is that while it is great for newbies some things were over looked and I was forced to learn those on my own.

I read widely from the top affiliate marketers.

Today I make an income online and the future looks bright.

As your coach I plan to share what I learned along the way, that I believe was missed in the WA system.

Disclaimer

While I wish to share my knowledge with those who I coach the information I share is in no way associated  with Wealthy Affiliate.

Additionally, the information I share with those who join through my link clarifies areas I found unclear or outdated during my training.

Market Research

QuestionPro defines Market Research as, “the process of evaluating the feasibility of a new product or service, through research conducted directly with potential consumers. This method allows organizations or businesses to discover their target market, collect and document opinions and make informed decisions.”

Why You Need To Do Market Research

Now you can go right ahead and choose a niche, research keywords then write articles or you may choose to do your market research before you begin.

Doing Market Research first is the way I prefer to do it.

Remember that most businesses fail within the first five years and affiliate marketing is no different from any other type of business.

In fact the failure rate of affiliate marketing is even higher than with other business types. According to Warrior Forum 95% of Affiliate Marketers fail. As such it is imperative that you ensure you lay the ground work for success very early.

This is why I prefer to do market research before I choose my niche.

My Experience

I was well into building my first website at WA when I began to see that Market Research was necessary.

Imagine writing 20,000 words then realizing you are in the wrong niche, you have no idea who your target audience is and you have no plan for the layout of your website.

Or what if you realized that you had approached your business the wrong way.

My First Mistake

I learned that I would not be able to make a significant amount of money from my book review blog unless I had thousands of persons/visitors buying books through my site everyday.

At that time I was an Amazon Associate.

If you know anything about Amazon it is quite easy to join their associate program. However, the commissions are quite low and the requirements are rigid compared to other programs.

Additionally, the price of the average book is about $5. It can be more but is often less. Now imagine earning 8% of $5. That is certainly not a significant amount.

This mean that in order to make a significant amount of money from this site I would need thousands of persons not only visiting my site but buying books.

I soon began to realize this may not have been my best choice as a niche. However, with no knowledge of how to remedy the problem I kept up this niche for several months longer.

More Mistakes

Two weeks after I started this first site I began to study the top affiliate marketers and document the information I was learning.

Additionally, I was putting their teaching into practice on the new site I started.

In my research I realized I had made several more mistakes. I had no idea who my target audience was, where to find them or whether there was money being spent in my niche.

Points to Explore In Your Market Research

1. Ensure there is money being spent in the market you are going into

Use the Google Keyword Planner to see if there are persons running advertisements in that market. This will let you know if there is any money being spent there.

You are looking for paid ads related to that market. If there are none, chances are there is no money in it.

Check Amazon Books to see if there are dummy books and others being sold. You are hoping to find loads of books because this is another indicator that there is money being spent there.

Join JVZoo and check their list of products to see if there are products available in your niche. You are looking not only to find products but high end ones. Products over $500 would be great.

2. Do Key Work Research

Learn the keywords associated with your niche.

When you go into a niche it is your job to learn the common language. You learn this by reading on other people sites, attending webinars or by reading on forums.

These keywords will be used in your research as well as your writing. Make a list of them.

3. Know Your Target Audience

You need to know your target audience, where they hang out, their interest and their needs.

It is your job to meet their needs.

What you need to do is search for Facebook groups and forums on sites such as Quora related to your proposed niche.

Join these sites. Here you will learn all you need to know about the people in your niche. Take note of their concerns and questions, if you can answer go ahead. This will be to your benefit later.

If you can’t that’s ok. Take notes about what they need to know because your job will be to help them.

Point To Note

It is just as difficult to sell an expensive product as it is to sell a cheap one.

Imagine if you were to sell two affiliate products every week for $1000 each earning 10% interest. This mean that at the end of each month you have the potential to earn $800.

I know $800 per month may not be all you expected to earn when you came into this industry. However imagine doing the same thing with $5 books.

You are earning 10% interest on two books weekly. That is $4 per month.

I am sure that $800 is beginning to look much better now.

While our plan is to ensure that we sell more products as our business grow I am sure you have begun to appreciate the difference selling high ticket affiliate products make.

So here is one things I believe anyone who wishes to make serious money online should consider, high ticket affiliate programs are imperative.

Anything less and we will find ourselves earning pittance for what is the equivalent of slave labor.
